Why would a campaign consultant who controls the budget choose a $10 million TV ad over a door-knocking program? In this clip from my Fargo Talks conversation, Cliff Maloney, CEO of Citizens Alliance, walks through the commission math and what he says it means for where campaign money goes.
Then he explains what the left tells its consultants instead, and what it actually takes to run a door-to-door program. The views in this clip are Cliff's.
In our full conversation, Cliff walks through how Citizens Alliance runs paid door-knocking programs in Pennsylvania, Arizona, New Hampshire and Nevada.
Why don't more campaigns invest in door-to-door canvassing?
Cliff Maloney of Citizens Alliance says a consultant who controls the budget can split a commission on a TV ad buy, such as $1.5 million on a $10 million ad at 15%, while door-to-door programs mean booking hotels and Airbnbs, handing out gas cards and cutting walk books for every door knocker.
