This Hospital Tracks Every Call Light You Press

Before Chris Loftus walks into a patient's room, he stops at the nurse's station and asks five things. The plan of care. Something personal about the person in the bed: their sports, their family, their kids, their pets' names. In this Fargo Talks clip with Jeff Fargo, the CEO of West Henderson Hospital walks through his pre-visit checklist.

He explains why the hospital tracks every call light pressed in the building, why he wants to know how many times you used yours yesterday before he says hello, and how he checks that your medications and their side effects have already been explained to you. His reason for all of it comes down to one sentence about his own family.

Chris Loftus is the CEO of West Henderson Hospital in Henderson, Nevada, The Valley Health System's newest acute care hospital.
