This clip from Fargo Talks features McDojoLife explaining why he created a third-party safety verification system for martial arts gyms.
He makes something clear. It is not about using his organization. It is about doing the work. Background checks. CPR. SafeSport. Proof that you are safe to be around kids.
There is no legal requirement to do any of this in martial arts. Anyone can open a gym. Anyone can teach. That is the problem. McDojoLife explains that if these issues were rare, he would not be finding new cases every week. But he does, because it keeps happening.
What frustrates him is the attitude of people who say it never happened to them, so it must not be real. That is not how safety works. You do not wait for harm to happen before you care. You reduce risk before it does.
I do not care what system a gym uses. I care that they use one. If you work with children, you should be willing to prove you are safe. Skill does not replace responsibility. Reputation does not replace verification.
This clip is about accountability, transparency, and why protecting kids matters more than protecting egos.
