AI might be lying about your business right now. If ChatGPT cannot read your hours, your location, your contact info or the services you offer, it guesses, and it states the guess as fact.
Here is what a guess costs. Air Canada's chatbot told a passenger he could apply for a bereavement fare after he flew. That policy did not exist. In February 2024 the British Columbia Civil Resolution Tribunal held Air Canada responsible for what its own chatbot said and ordered it to pay. The airline argued the chatbot was a separate entity. The tribunal did not buy it.
Your business is smaller than an airline. The mechanism is the same. AI stops getting challenged when everything it reads about you is accurate.
