36 Doors for One Vote? It's a No-Brainer

How many doors does it take to earn one vote? In this clip from my Fargo Talks conversation, Cliff Maloney, CEO of Citizens Alliance, walks through the door-knocking math behind his program, starting from research he says covers 30 years of controlled trials across Republican primaries, Democrat primaries, general elections and nonpartisan races.

Then he explains why he still calls it a no-brainer. The views in this clip are Cliff's.

In our full conversation, Cliff walks through how Citizens Alliance runs paid door-knocking programs in Pennsylvania, Arizona, New Hampshire and Nevada.

How many doors does it take to earn one vote?
Cliff Maloney of Citizens Alliance cites research showing that one out of every nine conversations at the door adds a vote. With a 25% take rate, about one conversation for every four doors knocked, he says that works out to 36 doors and nine conversations to earn one vote. Compared to the return on other ways of electioneering, he calls it a no-brainer.
